Sales tax on your order from CargoVault Containers, LLC depends on where it is delivered. This policy explains how we calculate, collect, and exempt sales tax.

Overview

CargoVault Containers is required by law to collect sales tax on orders shipped to certain states. This policy explains how sales tax is applied to your purchase, how exemptions work, and your use-tax responsibilities. It is provided for general information and is not tax advice.

How Sales Tax Is Calculated

Applicable sales tax is automatically calculated and added to your order at checkout based on the delivery address you provide. The rate is determined by the state, county, and local jurisdiction of the shipping destination and may include state, county, city, and special district taxes.

States Where We Collect Tax

We collect sales tax in states where we have a physical presence or meet economic nexus thresholds as defined by state law (often a dollar amount or number of transactions sold into that state). If your state is not subject to collection at checkout, no sales tax will be added to your order. The states where we collect tax may change as our business and nexus evolve.

Taxable vs Non-Taxable Items

Sales tax generally applies to the purchase price of containers and most modifications. Certain modifications, accessories, or services may be exempt or taxed at different rates depending on your state's rules. Delivery (freight) charges are generally taxable when the goods themselves are taxable, in accordance with each state's rules.

Freight & Delivery Charges

Where state law treats freight as taxable, delivery charges are included in the taxable amount at checkout. Where a state exempts separately stated freight, it may be excluded from the taxable total. The treatment shown at checkout reflects the rules of your delivery jurisdiction.

Tax-Exempt Purchases

If you are a reseller, government agency, manufacturer, or other tax-exempt organization, you may qualify for tax-exempt purchasing. Common qualifying exemptions include resale certificates, government exemption, and certain agricultural exemptions, depending on your state.

Exemption Process

To make a tax-exempt purchase, email your valid resale or exemption certificate to sales@cargovaultcontainers.com before placing your order. Once approved, qualifying orders will not include sales tax. Exemptions must be renewed annually or when your certificate expires. We retain exemption certificates as required by law.

Displayed Prices

All prices shown on our website are exclusive of sales tax unless otherwise stated. Tax is calculated and displayed at checkout before you confirm your purchase, so you always see the full total before payment.

Use Tax Responsibility

If we are not required to collect sales tax in your state, you may still be responsible for paying use tax on your purchase directly to your state's tax authority. We recommend consulting your state's department of revenue or a qualified tax advisor for guidance on your use-tax obligations.

Tax on Returns & Refunds

If your order is refunded, the sales tax collected on that order is also refunded. Partial refunds result in a proportional refund of the tax. Tax refunds are issued to the original payment method.

Changes in Tax Law

Tax laws and nexus rules change frequently. We update our tax collection as required by law. The tax shown at checkout reflects the rules in effect at the time of your order; this policy may be updated to reflect legal changes without notice.
